CTO x McRib Bash 12.05.09

December 7th, 2009 by john

So randomely, I was having a conversation with Justin, and we were talking about how good McRibs are. I had just admitted for the past 3 days, I’ve had McRibs.. They are so nostalgic and take me to a better time when I’m enjoying them. The official flyer was awesome, thanks Logan!

Taizo was one of the first to arrive, and so he made the call to McDonald’s, “Hi, I need to order 40 McRibs and 10 orders of fries, Thanks… I’ll be there in 10 minutes”

10 Minutes later, the bossman at McDonald’s was filling up this box with our order. Thanks McDonald’s for bringing the McRib back!

This is our order… made a nice McRib pyramid. As time went by, the party started to fill in. Here are pics of each individual enjoying the McRib:

From Left to Right: CTO John, Ines, Taizo, Taizo, MF Charles, Matt (Fox Sports), Dennis (Customer).

From Left to Right: CTO Mom, Jack (azndoc), Jack (azndoc), Aaron (dousan), Rebecca, Brian Harte (BH), Tire Delivery Guy.

From Left to Right: Danny (Pink Godzira), CTO Oscar, Chris (Flybert), CTO Charlie, Allen making a double McRib, Allen (http://www.4rtofclean.com), 40 McRibs massacred.

Thank you guys for coming out. This was a really fun time! Best party of 2009!!!

Just Drift / CHP Toy Drive 11/28 & 11/29

December 3rd, 2009 by john

For the love of charity! Just Drift along with the California Highway Patrol have come up with a fun way to help give a meaningful holiday for those kids in need. The annual JD / CHP Toy Drive at Willow Springs Balcony course is a great way for drivers to come drive at a discount when donating a toy to the CHP. $75 a day!

Speaking of the CHP, how often is it you see them enjoying the view of drifters sliding sideways in front of them? They had the best seat in the house. For me… it was freezing!!!! So I set up camp inside the trailer. 🙂

City Tire’s mobile setup.. without tent, because the wind was blowing so hard. Here is Oscar at work on some tires with our Hunter TC3500 tire changer.

Often times, people ask if we do more than tires, and the answer is YES! Tires, Wheels, Suspension, Alignments, Shocks/Struts, Coilovers etc etc etc… Good thing, because our friend Chris with a new Hyundai Genesis coupe had a bit of a mishap on Sunday. His wheel came flying off his car on the track. He ended up breaking all his wheel studs and bending 2 rear arms.

After a quick trip to AutoZone, we put his new wheel studs in and was able to hammer the 2 bent arms straight so that he can make it home safe on his donut spare.

Just Drift driver Chris “Flybert” Mendoza showing his skill all day at the Toy Drive. Also this red S14 with an OPEN DIFF.. was just murdering it.

Whoa! Cone killer!! A great way to learn or just get better in skill overall is to join the JD Drift clinic. They have beginner, intermediate, and advanced clinics to suit all driver levels. Many drivers who start off doing donuts and figure 8s in the morning, are able to drive the intermediate and advance courses by the end of the day.

Thanks to Just Drift and the California Highway Patrol for having us out there!

They do have Toy Drive #2 coming up the weekend of December 19th and 20th so please don’t forget to sign up!

Formula Drift Pro-AM Nationals 11.23.09 Irwindale, Ca

November 28th, 2009 by john

CTO was busy as usual for Pro-AM Nationals at Irwindale Speedway as the top amateur drifters test their skills to see who’s got what it takes to earn they Professional Formula Drift license for the 2010 season. Drivers and cars came from all across the country to try and earn their rights to make it to the big stage next year.

This is Logan from Work Wheels USA, giving us our traditional umbrella girl pose….

Here he is being an umbrella girl for Matt Powers, Formula Drift Pro Driver.

Thanks Jack for coming out to help CTO on a busy day, the help is always appreciated. Mike Essa sighting! He’s got some pretty big plans lined up for the 2010 season, in a new V12 powered BMW! Best of luck to Mike in 2010.. a big supporter for CTO in the past few years.

Plenty of Pro Formula Drift drivers made it out to show their support to the up and coming amateur drifters. Here is Joon Maeng, one of the nicest guys in the world.. little did he know Judge Andy Yen was critiqueing his CTO Photo from behind!

Mickie Frial on the left, and Luke Pakula were able to earn they Pro license through the Just Drift / Top Drift series 2009. For those that wish to test their skills in competiion, this series seems very promising for 2010. Contact us for details on how to compete and earn a FD license for 2011!

Drivers were drifting their hearts out. Look as David Blunt (Red BMW E30) got gangster on the wall on the inner bank. John Rusakoff (Light Blue AE86 Corolla) was killing it on the entire course all day.

Really close tandem action through the day! Congrats to the winners of this event.

1st- Ian Fournier
2nd- Mike Pollard

CTO Project 370Z

September 2nd, 2009 by john

Do we work on a lot of Nissan Z’s? Yes! But now we have a new Z Chassis to play with.. the 370Z!

Charlie from Kallusive clothing (www.kallusive.com) and City Tire have been working on this new project for the past couple of months.

First and foremost is some new rubber. We decided to go all out for an upcoming track day, and wrapped his 19″ wheels with some Yokohama Advan Neova AD08. Considered the best performing tire in its class, the new AD08 is gripper and better in wet traction than its predeccesor (AD07). Another great advantage over tires in its class is that it lasts about 1 and a half times longer than the competition. Not to mention the 19″ sizing that they offer now!!!

http://citytireonline.com/Yokohama_AD08.htm

With better tires.. we decided to go with some intense braking power. Stoptech big brake kit with 380mm rotors! It really filled up the front wheel with this set up. Looks and feels amazing. Hit us up if you are interested in any kind of brake work. Whether its OEM replacement, or a big brake kit such as this Stoptech kit we’ll get you oufitted in no time!

Now to get this project setup the right way for the weekends track event we needed suspension! The picture above is of our tech Oscar measuring out the KW Variant 3 coilover setup for the 370Z. KW has been a proven brand in performance and reliability on a various amounts of applications. Let us know what setup you’d like to go with and we can definitely point you in the right direction when choosing your suspension application.

With the new KW Variant 3 Coilovers and Stoptech Big Brake Kit installed, it was time for some ride height adjusting and alignment. All done in house!

Even Oscar has to appreciate all the hard work that was put into the car thus far. But the story doesn’t end here. There are some big plans for this project!

We would also like to take this time to thank Tanabe for using the 370Z as a test car to dress it up with a Touring Medallion Exhaust earlier this year. It sounds like a beast with a nice freeflowing exhaust. Quality parts as always from Tanabe!

05.16.09 CTO BBQ

May 18th, 2009 by john

We threw a BBQ at the shop inbetween crazy traveling as a big THANK YOU to all that supported us this year thus far!

Lots of people showed up for the BBQ. All kinds of support that we’ve have been getting for a very long time. People were scheduling stuff to do around this BBQ, so that they can mount some tires and get some food and chill all in 1 day 🙂

And the food…. A local market here marinated the best Carne Asade around LA. Place is always packed with people dropping by Duranguito Market in Bell Gardens. And this would be our famouse CTO Guacamole. Hand made by Alberto this time. Good stuff!

A little treat for those that stop by on Saturdays. Many people know about the famous Tostada guy that drops in on Saturdays especially for only $6! On the right is a special beer he also serves. Very refreshing!

Chris Mendoza aka Flybert (left), Justin Pawlik (middle), and John (right) all enjoying themselves in the waiting room. Our driver Carl Rydquist and fiancee Jen enjoying the Tacos in the back of the TACO-ma.

Got pretty crowded, there was no where to move cars at one point…. but we did spot Logan amonst the crowded cars sporting his Rice Patty hat leaned over to the side.

Rebecca, Aaron, and Jack chillin in the shade. It was a warm day at CTO but it wasn’t over yet, we had to load the CTO/Kallusive 350Z in the trailer to do a Demo at NOS Center in San Bernardino the same night!

Thanks to all for coming and all our supporters out there for making CTO what it has become!
